During the last Google I/O conference, Google announced their two new upcoming apps: Google Duo and Allo.
NOTE: We’ll provide links to download the APK files below the post.
To get access to the both apps you had to pre-register to get an invite when it’s ready in your country/area. We are already registered and so we got our link to download the Duo app within last week. By now it should be available to everyone now. Clock on any of the photos to download the respective app. Note however that the Allo app is still not available for download.
I must say the app is really cool. In terms of functionality, it does what it says – video chatting. Simply open the app, select a contact and start video chatting.
One unique aspect about the app however is the Knock-knock feature.
What this basically does is that it allows you to see the other party even before they answer the video call. It’s more like a peep-hole, only that instead of a door, it’s your phone’s camera.
The feature can be turned off in the settings though.
Mind you though, your network has to be good for you to enjoy a smooth experience. We’re hoping that in future updates the video experience will still be good even if your network is not that good.
You can check out the official Duo website from here https://duo.google.com/
We are hoping that the Allo app will somehow be connected to the Duo app to allow for those who want to just send texts. It’ll be like how the Facebook app integrates with the Messenger app. Well let’s wait and see what happens.
In the mean time you can go ahead and download the apk file below. Make sure to allow installation from unknown sources from your phone settings. Enjoy the experience and let us know how it goes in the comments section below.
